10 Keys to Personal Power Post
Brian Tracy
1. Clarity : the state of being clear
Quotes: "Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you’re going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."
What this means is that you should be more clear of the things you want or the things you want to say. Means others will understand what you want and its clear to see it. Clarity a key to have because it allows you focus when you have clarity. It will help you in decision making like what colleges do want to go to. It also helps determine what you want to be when you grow up. Having clarity also helps you become the boss and have control. In some situations people don't have the best ideas because they don't have a clear mind. For example, when there is a fire, but it's an electrical fire and a man throws water because he doesn't have a clear mind. Throwing water at an electrical fire will only cause more fire. I always try to have a clear mind because it's help you walk through ideas. It also helps me be more confident because if I am speaking clarity I have confidence. "Have a sense of direction and know where you're going". This quote is great because it helps you determine where and what you want to do with your life. Now that I know more about clarity I will use it to my advantage.
2. Competence : the ability to do something successfully or efficiently
Quotes: "Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)
What this means is the commitment to becoming excellent in your chosen field. The power to choose your direction in life is truly in your own hands, if you just study these important keys to success you can achieve your most desired goals. For example simply put the most successful people chose to become more competent in their field and as a result of their efforts they would earn 16 times more then the 80% who chose to just get by.You should always follow this rule to obtain true success, do your best every time out and then always strive to do it a little bit better. When you do something well you get a sense of pride, your self esteem grows and you feel like a winner. Becoming absolutely competent in what it is that you do or want will make you grow as a person, a person who has accomplishments and pride, self-esteem and an overall excellent feeling about themselves.
3. Concentration :the action or power of focusing one's attention or mental effort.
Quotes: "Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time?” before you start anything."
What this means is that if you study successful and do what you have to do you will be a successful person. If you do what unsuccessful people do you will be unsuccessful. People we really need to focus on the positive and also the worthiness of our positive choices to know we are concentrated.Make the very best use of your time, because if you waste it on things that aren’t important, you will regret your time wasted on these things that weren’t worth it. Instead you should think, analyze, and invert your time on something that will be productive for your future. Ask yourself if you’re really putting your time in something productive or if you’re just wasting it. Time is precious in this life, know -how and who you spend your time with. Before you start inverting your time in something, think and see if you’re doing the right things and investing your time in productiveness that will benefit you later on. You should always concentrate on things that make you a CTR person, not a CTW person.
4. Common Sense : good sense and sound judgment in practical matters.
Quotes:
- Train your mind
- think things through
- listen to your intuition
- learn from setbacks
What this means is that action without thinking is the cause of every failure.Listen to your intuition. You should know that if someone says somethings like my the market is crashing, it doesn't mean a car crashed into a market it means that the money and accuracy of ones pocket is going down and we might lose our home. To have common sense is having the ability to think logical and not be worried. When you think logically you'll get through things a lot easier. When I am taking quizzes I use common sense to figure out which answer sounds and is the best if I do not know the answer. Its a good strategy to use because it lowers the odds you getting an answer wrong. Its good to use common sense because it makes you think hard. Using common sense also allows you to do things on your own because you won't be asking people what is happening.
5. Creativity : the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.
Quote:"Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most creative ask the most questions."
What this means is that you should use your imagination to create. To create what ever it is you set your mind to do. You should use bright skills to create a unique drawing or technique to show others. For example, when you are at a interview to show your boss your latest designs, you want to be able to show him your most amazing and outstanding ones. Those designs could get you to a better a job promotion or a higher pay. You can have fun by using your creativity and it can lead you to better places and better people. You can boost up your confidence and self esteem.
6. Consideration: careful thought, typically over a period of time.
Quotes:
- "The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."
- "Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc."
- "If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you’ll be the best educated person in history."
What this means is that you should think about doing more things everyday. Okay maybe not everyday but every chance you get to try something new you should try it out. This will help you learn new skills and help you gain some more knowledge that can be very useful late on. Consideration is kindness and thoughtful regard for others, or an act of thoughtfulness. Treating others as you would have them treat you (the Golden Rule) is one example of consideration. One thing I do everyday is walk to school now, i find it a very healthy way to start off my morning.
7. Consistency: conformity in the application of something, typically that which is necessary for the sake of logic, accuracy, or fairness.

- "Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."
- Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work. Be the person that people can depend upon. That if you say you’ll do something you do it.."
What this means is the key to successful completion of any major project in life whether it be personal or professional is consistency. Consistency allows you to do something in a consistent manner. It creates accountability to accomplish your goals and desires. It establishes your reputation by you keeping a track record of your success. Makes you relevant, you will be able to give flowing directions to others that help them guide. Consistency maintains your message by others listening to your rules as a leader. Successful people aren’t better, different, smarter than everyone else, they just do things in a different way.
