10 Keys to Personal Power Post

Brian Tracy

 1. Clarity : the state of being clear

Quotes: "Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life.  Have a sense of direction and know where you’re going.  If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."

What  this means is that you should be more clear of the things you want or the things you want to say. Means others will understand what you want and its clear to see it. Clarity a key to have because it allows you focus when you have clarity. It will help you in decision making like what colleges do want to go to. It also helps determine what you want to be when you grow up. Having clarity also helps you become the boss and have control. In some situations people don't have the best ideas because they don't have a clear mind. For example, when there is a fire, but it's an electrical fire and a man throws water because he doesn't have a clear mind. Throwing water at an electrical fire will only cause more fire. I always try to have a clear mind because it's help you walk through ideas. It also helps me be more confident because if I am speaking clarity I have confidence. "Have a sense of direction and know where you're going". This quote is great because it helps you determine where and what you want to do with your life. Now that I know more about clarity I will use it to my advantage.

2. Competence : the ability to do something successfully or efficiently

Quotes: "Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)

CompetenceWhat this means is the commitment to becoming excellent in your chosen field. The power to choose your direction in life is truly in your own hands, if you just study these important keys to success you can achieve your most desired goals. For example simply put the most successful people chose to become more competent in their field and as a result of their efforts they would earn 16 times more then the 80% who chose to just get by.You should always follow this rule to obtain true success, do your best every time out and then always strive to do it a little bit better. When you do something well you get a sense of pride, your self esteem  grows and you feel like a winner. Becoming absolutely competent in what it is that you do or want will make you grow as a person, a person who has accomplishments and pride, self-esteem and an overall excellent feeling about themselves.

3. Concentration :the action or power of focusing one's attention or mental effort.

Quotes: "Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time?” before you start anything."

What this means is that if you study successful  and do what you have to do you will be a successful person. If you do what unsuccessful people do you will be unsuccessful.  People we really need to focus on the positive and also the worthiness of our positive choices to know we are concentrated.Make the very best use of your time, because if you waste it on things that aren’t important, you will regret your time wasted on these things that weren’t worth it. Instead you should think, analyze,  and invert your time on something that will be productive for your future. Ask yourself if you’re really putting your time in something productive or if you’re just wasting it. Time is precious in this life, know -how and who you spend your time with. Before you start inverting your time in something, think and see if you’re doing the right things and investing your time in productiveness that will benefit you later on. You should always concentrate on things that make you a CTR person, not a CTW person.

4. Common Sense : good sense and sound judgment in practical matters.

Quotes:

  •  Train your mind
  • think things through
  • listen to your intuition
  • learn from setbacks

What this means is that action without thinking is the cause of every failure.Listen to your intuition.  You should know that if someone says somethings like my the market is crashing, it doesn't  mean a car crashed into a market it means that the money and accuracy of ones pocket is going down and we might lose our home. To have common sense is having the ability to think logical and not be worried. When you think logically you'll get through things a lot easier. When I am taking quizzes I use common sense to figure out which answer sounds and is the best if I do not know the answer. Its a good strategy to use because it lowers the odds you getting an answer wrong. Its good to use common sense because it makes you think hard. Using common sense also allows you to do things on your own because you won't be asking people what is happening.

5. Creativity : the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.

Quote:"Except the fact that every human being is a genius.  The hallmark of creativity is asking questions.  The people who are most creative ask the most questions."

What this means is that you should use your imagination to create. To create what ever it is you set your mind to do. You should use bright skills to create a unique drawing or technique to show others. For example, when you are at a interview to show your boss your latest designs, you want to be able to show him your most amazing and outstanding ones. Those designs could get you to a better a job promotion or a higher pay. You can have fun by using your creativity and it can lead you to better places and better people. You can boost up your confidence and self esteem.

6. Consideration: careful thought, typically over a period of time.

Quotes:

  •  "The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."
  • "Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator.  Take courses in listening, speaking, etc."
  • "If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you’ll be the best educated person in history."
What this means is that you should think about doing more things everyday. Okay maybe not everyday but every chance you get to try something new you should try it out. This will help you learn new skills and help you gain some more knowledge that can be very useful late on. Consideration is kindness and thoughtful regard for others, or an act of thoughtfulness. Treating others as you would have them treat you (the Golden Rule) is one example of consideration. One thing I do everyday is walk to school now, i find it a very healthy way to start off my morning.

7. Consistency: conformity in the application of something, typically that which is necessary for the sake of logic, accuracy, or fairness.

Quotes:

  • "Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."
  • Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work.  Be the person that people can depend upon.  That if you say you’ll do something you do it.."
What this means is the key to successful completion of any major project in life whether it be personal or professional is consistency. Consistency allows you to do something in a consistent manner. It creates accountability to accomplish your goals and desires. It establishes your reputation by you keeping a track record of your success. Makes you relevant, you will be able to give flowing directions to others that help them guide. Consistency maintains your message by others listening to your rules as a leader. Successful people aren’t better, different, smarter than everyone else, they just do things in a different way.

8.Commitment : the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.

Quotes:

  • "No success is possible without commitment.  The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success."

  • "Become totally absorbed in your work.  Be totally committed."

What this means is that you should be dedicated to the things you want to do.  Commitment to your company, boss, job. Commitment to your family, friends. Commitment to yourself, career, success. Commitment to your goals.  The amount of commitment you give to what ever it is that you may be working on will truly determine the successful completion of that particular project. This may be a commitment to a professional project or a commitment you made to yourself personally.

9. Courage: the ability to do something that frightens one.

Quotes: "The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life."

Image result for courage

What I believe this means is that you should be risk taking of more choices in your life. You should not be afraid to take risks if they mean that they could end up in something good at the end because or else you will spend your whole life wondering what could have been. For example you should  not let one little fear get in the way of your whole future.

10. Confidence : the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.

Quotes: "You only get confidence by doing things over and over again ."

What I believe this means is that you just really be sure of the things you are sure of doing. For example if you are going to go for a job interview you should be sure of yourself and know that you have every thing you need for that interview. You should  be prepared and for that we prepare a strong resume and an extra copy of other

School Break Days

During Winter break I spent most of my time working and watching Netflix. I did not go no where special, just stayed home with my family. I spent a lot of time watching Christmas movies for example A Christmas Carol and The Elf and The Office. In Sports related I watched a lot of soccer and football. My favorite team got a new teammate this month and that was big news.  A CTR experience I went through was when I helped this lady carry all her groceries from the store to her house. For homework I spend time studying for my AP Gov exam that is coming up in a couple of months. I also spent time working on my senior defense portfolio. For Christmas I spent it home with my mom and aunt and cousin so as I did on New years. one new thing did was go to a Christian Wedding. It was the most beautiful thing I've been to. It was my first time in a wedding and a Christian church and let me just say it was an amazing experience, to learn a new religion and see the way they pray to god is stunning. That is one experience I wont forget.

Class Evaluation

Some things I really enjoyed about this class were the fact that we use Hour of Code to have some fun playing games yet learning to do codes at the same time. I really enjoyed the writing tasks we were asked to answer on our blogger about the 7 Habits and others because it taught me to do things in a more efficient way. We have time to go make vocabulary words we can use to study for our up coming quizzes or test.

One thing I did not enjoy about the class was having a really loud class. At times I would of really like to concentrate on my reading but I could not because of the kids that were constantly CTW. Another thing I did not like about this class was not having time to work on my senior assignments, as a senior I'm required to do all these essays and artifacts but have so little time.

One recommendation I would have is maybe having all the seniors in one side because we know that we get out class assignments done on time and we should have the little time left to work on our assignments. We usually need the time we have to finish assignments for our Senior portfolio and this time we would have left after we have finished all the assignments Mr. Haymore has assigned would really help. instead of us having to hear what the nonsense that the sophomores have to say we should be concentrated on our work in the corner finishing it up.

One highlight of this class was realizing how much my typing skills have improved since 10th grade. In 10th grade was the first year I took a computer class and my typing skills were really bad and it makes me so glad and proud to see how much I have accomplished with Typing Tutor. I am always typing doing work on computers so I believe that has also helped me . For Example in this class we are constantly writing big articles and evaluation and that really has helped my typing. This is my highlight and I and very proud of it.

My life planning goal is very important to me because it is a reminder of the things I need to get done. I constantly read it when I have time. I write in it when I am feeling down or when I have met a goal. I use it not just as a goal keeper but as my very own diary. This has also helped me become a CTR person because I know that I shall do good to receive good.

I am committed to trying to be a CTR person everyday and will be till the day I die. I am always very helpful and responsible and try my best to do good without being asked. I am kind to others even if they are not. I motivate my self to become better everyday by telling myself that  today is a new day to try new things. This class is overall a great class I enjoyed and I am looking forward to it next semester. Innovation Electric Cars: Tesla

Tesla’s luxurious Model S electric car is developing its battery and recharging technology.Tesla has an important edge over its competitors in the race to bring electric cars to the masses.Tesla’s Model S is expensive it ranges from $70,000 to over $100,000, but its range is 265 miles, more than triple that of Nissan’s Leaf (75 miles). Within a few years, Tesla hopes to produce much more affordable vehicles including one that costs $30,000 to $35,000 with a range similar to that of the Model S.Tesla also wants to make electric cars more practical by building a nationwide network of charging stations that can deliver 200 miles of charge in about half an hour compared to several hours to charge an electric car at an ordinary station today.Today’s electric vehicles promise several advantages over gas-powered cars.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1: Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Image result for be proactive

Reflection:What I think this means is that you should be responsible for your own actions. Being proactive is a great habit to have, because you never waste any time. Being proactive allows you to have more free time. For example, let's say I have a lot of homework, but I have one week to do it. If I do the homework on the first day I get it then, I'll have the rest of the week to myself. I always try to be proactive because I love taking naps and playing basketball, so I need to do my homework quick, so I could have a 2hr nap then play basketball until I have to got to sleep. When I am not being proactive I usually take a long and cold shower to wake me up. Being proactive also allows me to carve out my own journey. It allows me to do whatever I want to do not what others want me to do. What the quote above states is that when you are proactive you are the main man and the person with the say.

Habit 2: Begin with the end in Mind                                                  "Control your own destiny or someone else will." Jack Welch

Image result for begin with the end in mindReflection: What I believe this means is that you should always take charge of your destiny. You should know where you want to stand and do something to make sure you end up there. You should never let anyone tell you your goals or what you should be doing. This will help you control your life more. For example when people ask you what College you want to go to . What do you say the one you want to go to because it has the major you want or the one your friend is going to. .... OF course you have to say the one that has the major you want to go into, if not then what is the point. You should always do things because you want to not because your friend or your mom or anyone else wants to go there. It should be you. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.

Habit 3: Put First Things First                                                          "Organize and execute around priorities."

  • Image result for Put First Things First"Generations of time management

  • Notes and checklists

  • The calendar

  • Time management

  • Self management

  • Learn to say “No”

  • Adapt to sudden changes

  • Successfully delegate 15

You must make sure to follow these steps In order to learn how to put things first. When you do things that are important first you end up realizing how much time you actually have to relax and do the other non important stuff you end up doing. You should really learn  how to manage time in order to have a good schedule. Make sure you always carry a calendar with things you need and want to do. Learn to say NO to the things you do not have to do. For example lets say you have a big chemistry test on Monday but your friend is having her birthday bash on Saturday. What do you do ? If you were smart you said that you will stay home and study. Forget a party you'll have many of those later on, right now you should worry about passing the chemistry test that is 60% of your grade.

Habit  #4: Think Win-Win
"Think Win-Win or not Deal"
Image result for think win win

You always want a mindset of winning. You never want to lose because then you're not succeeding in life. Having that mindset of winning will allow you have an advantage because now you'll have the confidence to win. Many that do have this mindset are usually the successful people. People that have this win win mindset usually win. For example, Leo Messi  would always play even if he was injured. He would do this just because he wanted to win and had that win or win mindset. Integrity: sticking with your true feelings, values, and commitments. Maturity:expressing your ideas and feelings with courage and consideration for the ideas and feelings of others. Abundance Mentality:believing there is plenty for everyone.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood                                       "Diagnose before you subscribe"

Image result for Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood "Diagnose before you subscribe" What this means to me is that you should always have steps toward creating a plan. When you plan on doing something you have to have steps. Make sure you know exactly what you are planning and know how to plan it. When creating a plan you must make sure you know your routine and make sure you put exact times and dates. What I think this means is, you should be good listener and learn what things are about before you start teaching other people. This is a great message because it shows how you should learn to be taught before teaching. I could remember a time when my coach told the whole team and said " I know you can play, anyone can play. It's a matter if you can understand the process. Overall what this process means is to listen first and then you can go out and teach someone else.

Habit 6: Synergize                                                                 "The Whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"

What this means to me is that it is good to help others when they need it.Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It also means to be open minded and work as a team to work on solution to problems. This word is quite new to me never heard of it, but know that I have done some research its very important to be synergize. An example of synergize is any type of team. Every team has to be open minded towards new ideas and they also have to work as a team. This is a great example because are only as good as their worst player. By getting the others involved will help them grow to better players. I did not know what this word meant before, but now that I know it I want to use it my everyday life. This mentality of being synergize will my trait of being a leader. I would like that leader trait to be the strongest. Me being the leader will allow me to control my own destiny. I want the keys to the car and ride waves of reality.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw                                                              Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

What I think this metaphor means is to practice. If you practice everyday then you'll be more experience that's what is means by sharpening the saw. It can be by any four social/emotional, spiritual, mental, or physical. Here is a physical example, if I practice everyday in soccer than more likely than not I will be better. By practicing it will increase my production on the field. I like this example on sports, but you can use it in education. Like when you're studying for that final exam, so you study all night. By studying all night you are sharpening the saw for the exam you are about to take. This is a great example because it shows how you can sharpen the saw physical or mentally. Spiritual example can be you studying your religion so you can be at peace with GOD.

Reflection: How this has reflected on me and how it had impacted me is by showing me that there are several ways to do things and not just in one way. You should always be aware of the things that are being done and the way they are being done. Sometimes there could be shortcuts to doing these things so you don't take forever doing them. You could always be more productive while doing these things. The 7 habits have been change the way I think in different perspectives. I have been using all the 7 habits. If it's, be proactive, begin with an end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek to understand then to be understood, synergize, or sharpening the saw. I was in the midst of doing my college application and when I started to do it all I remember was how can apply the 7 habits to my college application. I was being proactive when I was seeking out for information about colleges. This took a lot of time and effort, but I was on task and proactive so I finished with time to spare. I began with end mind because I knew I was doing my college plan, I wanted to apply to college. As of right now I am very anxious because I want to be accepted and that's thinking with a win win mentally.

On Friday, was the first day I donated blood. I could not be any happier yet nervous. When I got there I was like okay yay its your first time you could do this. But when I saw the needle I was scared I really was, the needle was not just big but it was fat . I was kind of regretting it after. But at the end of the day I felt good because I know it did something good. Later that day I went home and went to the Long Beach Outlets with my baby brother. On Saturday I came to school to start on my CSU application and ask for help on it. After that I went home ate and then left to work. I did not leave till 9 pm when we close. On Sunday was the same routine I woke up, shower, ate breakfast and left to work and did not leave till 9 when we close. Overall my weekend was really boring.

Class Evaluation  1. One of the things about this class that I enjoyed was that I was an upper class men, the students who I sat with were...
